SUNNY TWELFTH DAY (12th Night tonight!)

January 12, 2016

Thoughtful text to follow.

Well.. not sure how thoughtful this is today.  A drive to El Segundo to have lunch with my friend, artist: Jill Bell, was easy and sunny.  I hope you have at least one friend with whom you feel so comfortable that the things you share are totally authentic and comfortable.  She lives in the land of ice and snow now and is visiting family.  What luck to have a beautiful friend!

The death of David Bowie is reverberating among friends who are fans.  There's even some weird stuff on FB about what a big deal it might be when other icons of the music world pass away.  It's as though there would be a contest of what magnitude on the Richter Scale of iconic deaths one might be compared to another!  Every death diminishes us in specifically personal ways:

Fame, makes a man take things over
Fame, lets him loose, hard to swallow
Fame, puts you there where things are hollow
Fame....

I had to look up the lyrics.  The sadness that we experience when anyone dies is so personal.   No contests please.

Heard a brief discussion on the radio about 'time being an illusion.'  In a way it makes sense to me, though my capacity to understand it (or Einstein's epiphany about time while riding the bus!) is limited.  I am happy, however, to be here now!

On a totally happy note, an old school friend from Greeley, Colorado, Jim Rice, who has run the family business: Rice's Lucky Clover Honey, taking over from his dad, granddad and great granddad!! has pretty much passed the torch to his kids.  His daughter and her mom/Jim's wife are, at this very moment.. in Washington, D.C. as guests of the President to experience the State of the Union Address.  Their company is now in positive global trade, sending honey to as far away as China! Vicarious pride.  Congrats, Jim! and family. Sweeet!
