MONDAY, MONDAY 1/4/SWEET SIXTEEN

January 4, 2016

The predicted rains have not come to Cambridge Drive.   My neighbor puts an enamel pan in his yard to measure the precipitation.  Hope he gets something later today or tomorrow.

I have my TV set on as I do morning surfing in FB and answering emails.  The commercials are a mixed bag: mostly embarrassing.  Bad acting and silly premises.  The one that particularly makes me wonder about what advertising is all about features several women in a home setting.  AT&T wants you to know that their wifi never fails.  The doors of the refrigerator fall off; the cabinet doors explode and a woman making a really awful looking green smoothie turns on the blender and the top blows off. Cut to her laptop with a recipe for a smoothie as the glorp splashes on the screen. I wonder how many new AT&T customers sign up based on disaster?

That's about as bad a paragraph as the dumb commercial is dumb.

On a lighter note?  The guys who are making a 'stand' in Oregon have stirred a fire storm on Facebook.  Because national news has not flocked to the site (Malheur National Wildlife Refuge south of Burns, Oregon) FB friends are all up in arms.  That authorities are taking their time to deal with these guys may be to their credit.  Protest is something that we all have a feeling for.  If these guys are armed and another Koresh/Waco deal takes place, that would be terrible.  It'll be interesting to see how this all pans out. This is the latest link with information from NBC.

I like the Times serif font.  This program likes it sometimes and sometimes not.  Oy.
